The Life Of A Stay At Home Mommy

Sunday...what a great day!

For some reason today has seemed like the longest day ever, in a good way of course! We started out by purchasing a new mattress, ours was over 15 years old! Jim and I have both been waking up with horrible neck and back pains. It was no surprise we needed a new one, I end up in the middle of the bed every night because there was a huge dip in the middle. Luckily, with how the economy is going, we were able to get a really good deal. It will be delivered tomorrow and they even dispose of your old mattress...cha-ching!

Then we decided to do family church and a picnic in the park. We packed a lunch and our bibles and headed to Caper Acres. Today has been the most beautiful day that we have seen in WEEKS! Every body and their mom had the same idea but it was still alot of fun. The kids had a great time and that is all that matters!

We have started a new "activity" at dinner time. I tell Jim and DJ what the topic is going to be and to come up with their answer by dinner time. Here are a couple of questions so far, "If you could ask God one question, what would it be?" and "Who is your favorite person in the bible?"

It has been a lot of fun having something besides the norm to discuss at dinner. DJ has really enjoyed looking forward to what the question is going to be. I think tonight I will have him come up with the question and see what we get! It should be interesting!

Let the fun begin!

I plan on trying to come up with new ideas for clothes for this little boy. I like a certain style and sometimes it is hard to find in the store, especially in my price range. I made these two shirts for my nephews 1st birthday. The red tee is just a tie that I zig zagged on to the shirt. Jim made the tie template for me so I can reuse it. It was very simple!

The white shirt has 3 different bowties that are interchangable. Each one has a snap on the back so they can be changed depending on what pants he was wearing. The bowties took a little more work but I LOVED how both shirts turned out.

I just bought two plain white onesies and I plan on doing the same on them for the little one. He is going to look so cute!!!! Can't wait to come up with more ideas for this little guy of mine =)

BOY!

We are beyond excited to announce that we are having a BOY! We got to the appointment and they make you drink all this water, so needless to say I had to pee pretty bad. She began looking at all the organs of the baby and I got so caught up in looking at everything that I actually forgot we were going to be finding out the sex of the baby. We looked at the brain, feet, fingers, arms, toes, etc and everything came out great.

Then all of the sudden I saw something that didn't look like what my daughter has! She said, "Do you guys have a boy or girl at home?" We said, "Girl." Then she said, "You'll be happy to get a boy then!" I was shocked to say the least! Last time she warned us that she was looking for the baby's privates and then this time she caught me WAY off guard!

Let me just say, all 7inches 8oz of him is perfect! He is going to be my Mr. Handsome as I have already started calling him that! Let me just say, I cannot wait to hold my little boy.

Ohhh 5pm, do you know how much I dread you?

This is kind of a weird title but oh well! It is how I feel! Lately I have been getting sick around 4:30 and 5pm...ugh....If any Mommies are reading you know this is not a good hour. It's right when you are trying to think of what to make for dinner, or if you are like me and eat early, you are already trying to prepare dinner. Riley has been taking a later nap everyday so she is just getting up around 4:30, which means diaper change, sippy cup, etc.

Our house is full of sickies right now. Riley was awake most of lastnight with a cold and she couldn't breath, so we brought her in bed with us and Jim made the mistake of turning on Nemo. She's like, "Yeah right I'm going back to sleep, Nemo's on!" I finally stuck her in her crib at 4:30AM this morning. Jim's back has been acting up a lot lately. He helped a family friend put their new flooring in this past weekend, which he loved, but I think he's paying for it now. And then there is me, just pregnancy sick.

I know I have mentioned this for the past 4 posts I am sure but tomorrow we find out the sex of our baby. I can hardly wait! I just hope that I can sleep tonight. What I am the most excited about is seeing my babys face. After Rileys ultrasound I remember just staring at the pictures in awe of what God had blessed us with. I can't wait to do the same with this little one.

This is becoming quite a random post but I have been dreaming of a mini vacay with JUST my husband. I so miss having alone time with him. We took a trip to Squaw Valley last August and it was dreamy! My brother and his girlfriend stayed at our house and watched Riley for the weekend. They did a great job and I wasn't worried at all while we were gone. Squaw Valley is by far our favorite spot, we stay at Squaw Valley resort and Jim always upgrades to the beautiful Suite. I feel so relaxed when we are there but unfortunately with the house and all, mini vacays are not on the priority list. Maybe this summer we can go before the baby is born.

So Yummy!

Lately I have been browsing the internet looking at design ideas, colors, decorations, etc and I came across these chairs made by Pottery Barn. They are slightly (really!) out of my price range but a girl can dream right? I am a huge fan of the green one and the yellow one. I think they are around $1000 a piece but I am praying to find a cheaper version in the future! It's nice to have a vision and get an idea for what I like even if it is not an option to purchase. A girl can dream right?!?!

Who are you? And what have you done with my mommy?

If today was the voting for the "Mother of the Year" award, I definitely wouldn't win based on my performance today. I must say, I felt the pregnancy hormones really kick in this morning. Or maybe it was the fact that I haven't slept a full night in weeks, I have had a migraine for two days and I can't take anything for it, or maybe Riley and I are feeling cabin fever! Actually, it's all of the above.

I have grown pretty uncomfortable at night. This worries me seeing how I am only 17 weeks! What am I going to do when I get to 35 week?!?! Ugh....but on a more exciting note, we had an appointment yesterday with the midwife. She went to get the dopler to find the baby's heart beat and she was going for the right side. I stopped her and showed her exactly where the baby was sitting on the left side and she said, "Wow, you really know where your baby is." This pregnancy is SOOO different. I know what to feel for, I know the difference between the baby's movements and just a bubbly tummy. We have an ultrasound scheduled for next week to find out the sex of the baby. I can HARDLY wait! I have had two dreams now about the baby being a girl. But this definitely doesn't mean that I think it's a girl, I really have no idea! We have a couple of names picked out but are not set on any of them. I think we are both waiting until we find out the sex so we can pick out just one name.

Other exciting news, Riley is going peepee on the big girl potty! Well, not all the time but a couple of times a day! I am so proud of her. When I was younger, I never imagined I would cry the first time my child peed on the potty, but here I am, one proud Mommy!

Enjoy the picture, its not the most glamorous but it best described how I felt today!

Curtains!!!!

Riley is going to be two in a couple of weeks and it literally has taken me this long to settle on a pair of curtains for her room. I saw these at World Market and FELL in LOVE! They are super funky but can definately grow with her. I didn't want something too girly ( just in case she shares a room with her baby brother, that is, if we are having a boy!) and I definately wanted something with a punch of color. These curtains remind me of her personality! Theres a problem though, they don't match her room now. But I need to remember, we are moving in a month and I can paint her room ANY color I want! This is the perfect time to start fresh! After my hubby put them up she wrapped herself in them and said, "Mommy, beautiful flowers!" These curtains won't fancy everyones taste, but I LOVE THEM! So, I have one room down, 6 more to go! (including guest room, formal living room, living room etc!)

Almost back to normal....

Ok what, is this not the cutest picture ever? In fact, I entered it into Regis and Kelly's Cute Baby contest in hopes that we can win some money for college!!!!!!! We'll see how it goes ;)

Anyway, Riley and I were able to venture out twice this week to the park and boy did it feel good! One day we partied at Caper Acres and the other day I got my legs movin on a speed walk. I, of course stopped twice so she could look at the water. She has always loved to look at the water under the bridge. It is these times that I really had taken for granted before I got pregnant. I would pretty much run in the park 5 days a week before. Sure, I always thought it was just beautiful there but since I have been so sick, I really have enjoyed looking at all God has created JUST FOR US! How great is that?! We'll probably be stuck inside most of this week with a big storm coming our way, but who doesn't love spending the day in your pajamas?!? Happy Sunday!!!!

Trust

I was so blessed to receive a daily devotional from my mother in law for Christmas. Jan 1 came and I opened it up. I really was just using it as a tool to get me into The Word. I have to admit, I forget how BIG God is sometimes and how he maneuvers himself in my life. I want to share a specific devotion with you.

"I am able to do far beyond all that you ask or imagine. Come to Me with positive expectations, knowing that there is no limit to what I can accomplish. Ask My Spirit to control your mind, so that you can think great thoughts of Me. Do not be discouraged by the fact that many of your prayers are yet unanswered. Time is a trainer, teaching you to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark. The more extreme your circumstances, the more likely you are to see My Power and Glory at work in the situation. Instead of letting difficulties draw you into worrying, try to view them as setting the scene for My glorious intervention. Keep your eyes and your mind wide open to all that I am doing in your life."

Whew!!! I love those words, "glorious intervention"

Happy Tuesday!!!

Blog Hiatus

Wow! It's been almost a month since my last post. The holidays kind of took it out of me! We had family in town until the 2nd of January and we had a blast over Christmas. But for some reason I just couldn't get enough sleep! I still can't, for instance, lastnight I went to bed at 9:30pm and woke up at 8am and here I am yawning again! I do need to give a praise though, I am actually getting out of the house and running errands without being sick! woohoo! I never thought this day would come. See, I work in extremes, when life is going a certain way I think it will be that way forever. This is so not the case!

I am really excited to find out the sex of our sweet baby next week! I can hardly wait but more importantly I just like to see how the baby is doing. I love going to get an ultrasound, I feel like I am peeking into the world my baby calls home. He/she is definately moving around lately and having a great time doing it I am sure!

Some other exciting news is; we bought a house! (Or are in the process). I am excited but won't be 100% excited until everything goes through. We are in escrow and scheduled to close the end of next month. We prayed about the perfect house for us and passed up a lot of other houses either because of the lot size, the living room size, not enough bedrooms, etc. It's in a great neighborhood, close to my stepsons school and I feel we will have room to grow!

We already have so many neat things happening to our family this year that I can't wait to see what else God has in store for us!
